Special Edition

Lightkey for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)

Lightkey is an AI powered text prediction software that is available to students as part of the Student Loans Company's (UK) Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) scheme. Lightkey for DSA is a course long licence that gives the student access to Lightkey across their native applications and more.

How Lightkey can benefit people with disabilities

Lightkey benefits a whole range of different users with various disabilities; from SpLD’s, anxiety and depression to physical disabilities and fine motor control issues. Users can increase the speed of the work they produce by reducing the barriers faced by spelling issues, being able to concentrate on getting their thoughts down in writing and by being more efficient. By reducing the number of keystrokes required to compose written studies people with disabilities can reduce the potential physical pain their condition may put on them.

Lightkey offers an optimized prediction experience for People With Disabilities (PwD’s). Increasing Lightkey's prediction interactively over its accuracy essentially enables users to save as many keystrokes as possible. This kind of functionality would mostly benefit people with disabilities, minimizing the physical aspect of typing. This feature works best with sound assistance for users who focus on their keyboard while typing. This feature is available on all of Lightkey’s editions (including the free edition).

Lightkey supports over 80 different languages allowing those students on language courses to utilise Lightkey in multiple languages. Students can also select additional subject specific categories from the 68 that are included within Lightkey, giving more accurate prediction for their chosen course.
