Predictive text in WhatsApp on your PC: how Lightkey works in WhatsApp
Yes, Lightkey works in WhatsApp on your Windows PC. Your phone keyboard predicts words; on a computer, WhatsApp doesn't. Lightkey fills that gap: it predicts your next words in grey right where you're typing. Press Tab to accept, or keep typing. It also suggests spelling corrections as you go.
How it works
Install the Lightkey desktop app and open WhatsApp for Windows. Predictions appear in the message box of every chat.
Using WhatsApp Web? Add the Lightkey extension for Chrome or Edge; it works together with the desktop app.
What it helps you write in WhatsApp
More and more work happens on WhatsApp: with clients, suppliers and teams. Lightkey learns the messages you send often, for example:
“Thanks, received.”
“I'll call you in 10 minutes.”
“Sending you the quote now.”
“Can we confirm for Tuesday at 10?”
Spelling suggestions appear above a misspelled word, so you can fix a typo before you hit Enter.
Private by design
Lightkey's prediction engine runs on your own computer. What you type isn't sent to a cloud service to get a prediction, and Lightkey keeps working offline. Your chats stay on your device.
