Yes, Lightkey works in Google Docs. As you write, Lightkey predicts your next words, up to 18 at a time, in grey right where you're typing. Press Tab to accept, or keep typing. It also suggests spelling corrections as you go.

How it works

Google Docs runs in the browser, so Lightkey works there through the Lightkey extension for Chrome or Edge. The extension works together with the Lightkey desktop app: install the desktop app, add the extension, and open a document.

The same setup also covers Google Sheets, Google Slides and Gmail.

What it helps you write in Google Docs

Documents repeat more than we think: reports, proposals, briefs and minutes reuse the same sentences. Lightkey learns yours, for example:

  • “The meeting was attended by all members of the steering committee.”

  • “Revenue grew 12% compared to last year.”

  • “Next steps are listed below.”

  • “Please review and add your comments by Thursday.”

Unlike Google's own Smart Compose, Lightkey learns your phrases and works the same way in your other apps.

Private by design

Lightkey's prediction engine runs on your own computer. What you type isn't sent to a cloud service to get a prediction, and Lightkey keeps working offline.

Get started

  1. Download Lightkey and start your free 30-day trial.

  2. Install the Lightkey extension for Chrome or Edge if you also work in the browser.

  3. Open Slack and start typing. Press Tab to accept a prediction.

Lightkey works in more than 80 languages and in virtually every app on your Windows PC. See all supported apps.
