Predictive text in Notepad, Sticky Notes and LibreOffice

Yes, Lightkey works in Notepad, Sticky Notes and LibreOffice. In a quick note, a plain text file or a full document, Lightkey predicts your next words in grey right where you're typing. Press Tab to accept, or keep typing. It also suggests spelling corrections as you go.

How it works

Install the Lightkey desktop app and open any of the three. Predictions appear wherever you type: a Notepad file, a sticky note, or a LibreOffice Writer document.

None of these apps predict whole phrases by themselves. Lightkey adds that, with nothing to set up in the apps.

What it helps you write in these apps

Quick notes and documents still repeat your phrases. Lightkey learns them, for example:

  • “Call back about the delivery date”

  • “Remember to send the signed copy.”

  • “Draft for review, not for distribution”

  • “Please find below a summary of the main points.”

Spelling suggestions appear above a misspelled word; accept the one you want, or ignore it.

Private by design

Lightkey's prediction engine runs on your own computer. What you type isn't sent to a cloud service to get a prediction, and Lightkey keeps working offline.

Get started

  1. Download Lightkey and start your free 30-day trial.

  2. Install the Lightkey extension for Chrome or Edge if you also work in the browser.

  3. Open Microsoft Teams and start typing. Press Tab to accept a prediction.

Lightkey works in more than 80 languages and in virtually every app on your Windows PC. See all supported apps.
