Yes, Lightkey works in Proton Mail, eM Client, Mailbird and Mailspring. Whichever email app you use on Windows, Lightkey predicts your next words in grey right where you're typing. Press Tab to accept, or keep typing. It also suggests spelling corrections as you go.

How it works

Install the Lightkey desktop app and open your email app. Predictions appear in the message body and the subject line, with nothing to set up in the app.

Proton Mail works both in its Windows app and in the browser; in the browser, use the Lightkey extension for Chrome or Edge, which works together with the Lightkey desktop app. eM Client, Mailbird and Mailspring are desktop apps, so the desktop app is all you need.

What it helps you write in these apps

Whatever app you use, your emails repeat. Lightkey learns the phrases you write most, for example:

  • “Thanks for your message.”

  • “Please see the attached file.”

  • “Happy to set up a call next week.”

  • “Looking forward to hearing from you.”

If you use more than one email app, Lightkey brings the same predictions to each of them.

Private by design

Lightkey's prediction engine runs on your own computer. What you type isn't sent to a cloud service to get a prediction, and Lightkey keeps working offline. For Proton Mail users in particular, that means predictions don't add another place your words are sent.

Get started

  1. Download Lightkey and start your free 30-day trial.

  2. Install the Lightkey extension for Chrome or Edge if you also work in the browser.

  3. Open Microsoft Teams and start typing. Press Tab to accept a prediction.

Lightkey works in more than 80 languages and in virtually every app on your Windows PC. See all supported apps.
